Does anyone know of a nice small stereo amplifier that maybe turns on automagically if it sees a signal? I want to put a SB3 in my bedroom with maybe some nice inwall speakers, and don't want a big clunky receiver up there if I can avoid it. I would probably still like 50+ watts though per channel.

Thanks for any suggestions! I'd take suggestions on good in wall speakers too!

Take a look at this thread:

About the only difference here is the auto-on
requirement.

Both of these would work nicely. The 1st 1 is rated at 75 watts and has a/b speaker posts, the second is rated at 45 watts with only 2 sets of speaker posts. Both have audio loops to input into addional amps. Both also have 12v tiggers as well as auto-on when an audio signal is present at the L and R audio IN jacks.

For speakers, i would recomend PSB or B&W. I haven't hear their in-walls, but their floorstanders are excellent.

I'm using an SB3 directly into a AudioSource Amp Two (which is now called the Amp 200). Anyway, it's 80 W/ch (into 8 ohms), and it's a great amp for the price. You can find a used Amp Two on eBay for around $100, last I looked. I think a new Amp 200 costs about $249 or something like that.

Those Parasound amps actually remind me of the AudioSource amps. Anyone know how much they cost?

MSRP for the 275 = $500 usd, zamp 3 = $300 usd.

I've been toying with the idea of small digital amps too - am waiting to test this.

There are other diy makes I'm also considering http://diyparadise.com/charlize.html . These new toys are a downgrade from my hi fi (full Naim setup) which I'm a little disillusioned with now.....

Thanks! I will check all these out and post what I end up with.
