I got slimserver downloarded and running once, but after several hours, it crashed. Since then, it won't restart. I've tried reinstalling slimserver but experience the same issue: "slimserver starting" message. I can't access slimserver directly via the web brower. I run XP but don't have a personal firewall running. Help!

Go to Start - Run and type:

services.msc

I'm not on my SlimServer computer right now, but I
believe it should either be called Slim or SlimServer.
Right-click on it. Either select Stop, then Start or
try Restart.

However the abnormal starting problem may need more
troubleshooting - someone else will have to comment on
that.

Try to start it normally again though. Perhaps it was
just a slight glitch after installation.

no "slim*" in the services.msc management console. I guess that would explain why it won't start... How do I fix?

That means the service hasn't registered. BTW
since I'm on my SlimServer PC now, the process is
called SlimServer.

Generally the solution is to uninstall/reinstall,
but you indicated you already did this with no effect.

Can anyone else help erica here?

To jog everyone's memory, weren't there some
command-line switches for the installer program to
force registration or something?

Most do this with the "-install" switch.
So try "slim.exe -install"
