as a sonyericsson faithful, I was holding out for the new Sony Ericsson p990 (QVGA, wifi b, and touchscreen) for SB remote control purposes, when I stumbled across the Nokia N80 that should be released in a couple of months with a 352x416 screen resolution and wifi g.

okay, so it doesn't have touchscreen, but what does everyone think about this device for a v handy remote control compared to a standard pda/nokia 770/psp solution?

I haven't tried it as a Slim remote, but I have used the device. I
suspect that the screen would be rather small for a remote, or you'd
just be doing a LOT of scrolling :) The screen is very high
resolution, but it's still physically not nearly as large as a 770.
If you can, pick up a recent Series 60 devices (like the N70) in a
Nokia shop and see what you think about it.

If there's enough interest, I might be able to get someone at work to
loan me an N80 and I can take some screenshots of what a Slim
interface looks like on it.

I would be extremely interested to see what this looks like - and also how easy it is to navigate without a touchscreen/stylus. A bit off-topic, but any other user experience on the device would be welcomed!

Ok, I'll look into it. I am on paternity leave from work for a month
or so, but when I get back I'll track down someone who can loan me
one of these toys.
