Is this program already somewhere in Slimserver? It is listed among the plugins that I can check, but I can't find any screen that allows me to configure it. Same with Mood Logic. Is a separate download required? Do I have to pay a fee? The documentation on these programs is seriously lacking.

Google really is a remarkable tool... first link if you search for "Music Magic" will take you to http://www.predixis.com/ ... here you will find the free and paid for versions. AFAIK you need the paid version to be able to use the Slim plugin.

That is because they are third party, stand alone programs. SD does
not write docs for everyone :)

http://www.predixis.com
http://www.moodlogic.com

(also, this thing called Google works wonders)

both are free for eval, both required some sort of paid level for full
use, including useful integration with slimserver. The integration is
automatic when the server startup detects either of these programs are
installed on your system. You then see an item in server setting to
"use moodlogic" or "use musicmagic" as a library import.

Yes, I've heard of Google ;). What I didn't know was whether these programs were included in the Slimserver download and were already installed but I just couldn't find the configuration page. I had even been to the Music Magic homepage but it was unclear exactly how the program works with Slimserver. In other words, I didn't ask the question without trying to research it myself first.

Which was answered in a different way. you also asked where to find
them, so it made a very clear impression that you didn't know about
each programs website.

enter "slimserver musicmagic" into google and you get this as the first
link:
http://music.predixis.com/8_slim.html

hope that helps you understand the 'how' aspects of the integration.

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the Music Magic program, and I don't see anything in SlimServer. According to the Music Magic docs, there should be a small "mm" somewhere, but I don't see that either. I'm using the trial version. Is SlimServer support not included with that?

nope. You need to have the full version, and enable the API as
mentioned on the link I posted earlier in the thread.

after that, and restarting slimserver you will get the option to "use
musicmagic" in teh server settings. check that, and it will start an
import scan of the musicmagic data. Then you would see the 'mm' icons.

Well, I ponied up the cash (credit, actually), and now I do get the MM menu in the Server Settings. It still does not show the little "MM", though. Do I need to wait for MM to finish validating my library?

It's working now! What a fantastic tool. I've been wanting this kind of thing for years, but never knew anything actually did it until now. Thanks, for the help, Slim Goodbodies!

Nope that is incorrect you don't need to pony up any cash as you can use the premium free 30 day trail key after installation. I have just done this and it works fine and all "premium" content is available.

It makes sense - gives you chance to try it before you have to splash the cash.

To be fair to the original poster the MusicMagic website is in my opinion very poor and makes it difficult to find necessary information.

However it is a very cool piece of software.

Also meant to add that I am going to update the wiki to expand on where to get all this information and how to install.
