Im going to run my SB3 with just a WiFi card in my PC in ad-hoc mode, as i dont have any other wifi kit.

What are people experiences with this, good, bad? Anything i should know? Any tips?

Thanks again :)

I think one of the gotcha's is that adhoc networks are generally limited to 11mbps (even 11g ones).

Security in Ad-Hoc mode is limited to WEP as far as I can tell. I've been using my laptop's Wi-Fi card with my SB2 for a little while. I guess a good thing is that my internet connection (wired) is separate from my SB2 connection. I guess that's why I never get dropouts...?

For $12 this card may well be worth investigating. Lets your laptop function as a wireless access point. Only 802.11b, but from what I've read, I believe it does WPA.

After a week or so of using ad-hoc, i have to say I'm quite happy with it. It's only WEP security (not a problem for me as i live in the country) and runs at 'b' 11Mbps, but i have had not problems with lag and playback with large FLAC files has been perfect so far. Connects nicely everytime i reboot my PC.

It may not be the best solution, but it will stop me having to shell out another 60 for a while. I will get a router eventually, but there is no hurry :)
