View Full Version : Size limit of Playlist?

I have been creating some custom playlists. I created one with over 1250 entries. This crashed Slimserver 6.2.1 running on Linux. I edited the playlist down to about 970 entries and this worked and did not crash the server.

I am finding playlists very problem prone. Is there an extensive document that outlines what can and cannot be done with playlists.

Thanks.

It might rather be the 971st entry than the raw number of entries. Did you
try to only remove some songs around the 970 entries? Maybe there's some
song missing or something other that's odd.

I don't know.

With further research, I found that when I tried to play my long playlist from the SB3 interface that it plays but complains about the file and lists it is playing 1 of 932 entries. So for the moment, I need to keep the list to less than 932 entries. Seems like an odd limitation.

What I'm trying to do is export a song list from WMP10 of all songs that are in the "ECM" label. Unfortunately, Slimserver uses the lowest common denominator of tagging that is MP3. I use WMA files which have a richer tag fields. I like to play music by recording label. It would be great if I could access this information directly from the slimserver db but it is not available.

more research is in order. there is no such limitation. I have played
a playlist up to 12000 songs. Slimserver and SB3 should happily do so,
only requiring that you wait a bit longer. If the playlist was created
outside of slimserver, then it is possible that some file references
are not working, files not being found, etc.

d_info, d_parse, d_scan debugging flags should show a lot more
information as you try to load the playlist. you can view the log at
http://serverip:9000/log.txt, or run from command line: c:\program
files\slimserver\server\slim.exe --d_info --d_scan --d_parse --logfile
c:\mylog.txt and view the log later.
