Two days ago I had an SB2 and an SB3 running in wireless mode off of a
Linksys WRT54G with no problems. I decided to expand my coverage by
purchasing a second WRT54G and everything went bad in a hurry.

I finally have the original WRT54G working with my laptop and the SB3 in
wireless mode but the SB2 will not connect, even when sitting right next to
the SB3. The SB2 does see the wireless network and it will work when I
connect it via a cable and set it up for an Ethernet connection. A second
SB3 I have, not yet hooked up to a stereo, will connect via wireless to the
WRT54G from the other room.

How do I get the SB2 working again?

I happened to see something yesterday on that router from Broadbandreports.com -

As we've discussed, the latest (v5) version of the popular Linksys WRT54G hasn't met user expectations. Not only is it no longer open source, it has half the physical memory, and many users complained about the unit's performance. Our friends at Linksysinfo alert us to the fact that Linksys has released new firmware that should help some of the performance issues (download it here). Note that if you're buying a WRT54G for Christmas and want to use third-party firmware, you should purchase the new WRT54GL instead (or a v4 version of the WRT54G if you can find it).

Isn't that exactly what they are talking about? In any case did you get the new firmware for it?

I didn't know that the WRT54G was a repeater... is it? If not, you are essentially running two competing wireless networks, and I don't think this will do what you want.

If a router or AP has rejected a MAC address for some reason, it might not allow forwarding of that packets with that MAC address until the problem is cleared up. Only a restart of your router and gear will ensure this. Try restarting your router with the SB2 off, and then once the router has restarted, power up the SB2 and re-configure the network settings. See if this helps.

Can you advise where to get firmware update? I went to the Buffalo site and there has been no firmware update since 2004

As far as I know the Buffalo supports WDS bridge/repeater mode. My friend is running it,I am not brave enough

Sorry my mistake

I thought WRT54G is Buffalo, the Buffalo and Linksys model numbers are very similar.

Got the new firmware and it made no difference.
