I was recommended to post this to the dev list here..

Had MusicMagicMixer running on same XP machine as an earlier
SlimServer build a while back and it worked. MM took a couple of weeks
to complete its index. I then moved it to another machine and copied its
cache file across - it seems happy and will locally mix via its UI. The
library comes from 3 NAS drives so all files have UNC pathnames so
should be machine independent. Next I install SlimServer v6 on the
original machine, (running Perl version not exe on XP ) - have to
rebuild my DB from same NAS drives, goes well.
So now SlimServer (perl) and MMM on different XP machines and libraries
built from same three NAS drives. I added the MMServer name to prefs and
have the MusicMatch options now appearing in SlimServer (so it sees MMM)
but I cant get any MM indications on the players against tracks or mix
anything. It appears the linkage isnt there or that the DB import (if
it needs it) hasnt happened. Not sure how this info gets integrated or
what I have to do. I also dont know what to put in the "MusicMatch
Remote Root" parameter as no path name conversions should be needed, and
there are three different indexed volumes in MMM....

HI Kevin,

The use of MMM remotely is not currently supported by Predixis. The feature in
slimserver to do this was a hack provided by a user. It only really works for
the most basic of setups, with a single root that links back to files which
would be located on the slimserver box, much like the iTunes support for linux.

My feelings on this is that the whole mention of remote connection should just
be removed until such time as it is properly supported in the MusicMagic Mixer
API.

That might be a good idea (or at least hide it where someone has to
read docs before
getting to it).

However, it's worth noting that version 1.1.4 actually has some
support in now for remote
connections, although it's an open issue whether it's adequate. If
you pass "-remoteaccess",
then MMM will serve audio streams via the HTTP connection. If you add
"remote" to the
API commands (i.e. append "&remote"), then you will get back URL's
pointing to MMM instead
of local filenames. If someone wants to play with that and get back to
me on any changes
necessary,
I'd be make happy to make the necessary tweaks in MMM.

Hi wendell. Is 1.1.4 available for Linux yet? I've also been planning to add
the duplicates list as a playlist to slimserver, but accessing that with 1.1.3
on linux causes a crash every time.

It's currently in beta - I sent you the info privately. If anyone
else reading this wants
to play with the beta, send me email and I can set it up.
