I was sure this would be documented somewhere but I couldn't find it
anywhere so...

What does Slimserver do with ratings in random mode? Does it favour
tracks with a higher rating or are they all treated equally?

Thanks.

There is a place in the db ( i think). There is an open enhancement
request, but other things have been implemented along the way instead.
Random is just random, with the ability to filter by genre.

It's part of the ID3 tag but I've no idea whether Slimserver stores it
or not.

Oh. I wanted random with bias!

Does anyone know if there is any work being done to include Ratings in the db?

I have about 5000 of my mp3's rated using the Rating ID3 tag (and working on the other 35000), and would really like to be able to do an advanced search on it.

Ex: I'd like to search for, Rating >= 7, Genre = Indie, Year >= 2001.

That said, a more advanced search query tool seems to be needed so that you could search for, say, Genre = Indie or Alternative, Year between 1998 and 2002, Rating >=8, Mood = Mellow or Sad.

The library tools within The Godfather (http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/), for example, are much deeper.
