View Full Version : How do you add a radio station?

Where do I add the URL of a radio station feed so that I can easily access it? I rub a 24x7 server, so I'm not looking at using SqueezeNetwork.

I just loaded the 'Favorites' plugin. There's no indication in the plugin list what it does, but I suspect it's for something like this. However, I don't see how to add anything - radio station, playlist, track, or album to the list.

Lazy way: use the 'Radio Tune In' on the web interface and paste the URL there. Once playing, you can make it a favorite.

Harder way (which I do use sometimes... don't ask why..) is to make a playlist with the station in it.

Try "Radio Tune-in" from the home page, or the pulldown in Fishbone skin

I expect you can add it to favourites once it is playing, by navigating
to track info from now playing (using the remote).

I'm using the Radio Tune In and I'm pasting. Now how do I make it a favorite?

I think you do it via Slim Server. If you go to the web interface, on the left side there is a link for RADIO - click on "Radio Tune In". On the resulting page you can input a URL for the radio station. I've just tried it with the Australian station Triple J
http://abc.net.au/streaming/triplej/triplej.m3u

It looks like you need to save the resulting playlist and then play the radio station from your playlists. I have just done this & it works. I don't know if there is a way to make it show up under the Internet Radio menu on the SB.

[edit] Hmm, seems I was too slow. Presumably you make it a favourite by creating a playlist and then adding that to favourites (to do this, press the right button on your remote while the item is playing, you will be prompted to press right again to add it to your favourites).

Thanks all... Odd process, use the web interface to tune in, then the remote interface to add to favorites.

I'm surprised that with all the focus on streaming radio this ability isn't built into the server and manageable through the web interface. IIRC, you can do this in SqueezeNetwork but if you're running a local server then using SqueezeNetwork for anything at all is just a pain in the butt.

Not odd at all; just tune in and then press SAVE from the web interface...

Ok, but that's using a playlist, which is something different. I don't use playlists much, so didn't know you could do this. That's probably the better way to go.

I found that the easiest way to use the Favorites plugin for ad hoc radio stations is to just edit the SlimServer config file, where the Favorites plugin keeps its settings. Then I can also display what I want as the station name in the list.
