Hi,

I have a question about adding a song to a playlist that is currently playing. When you are giving a party and the music comes from a predefined playlist, you guests always like to hear their favorite song. To make the guest happy, he would like to hear his song very soon, so it would be nice I could add a song to the playing playlist as 'the next song' in the list and not at the end of the playlist. This is not the standard functionality, but does anybode recognize this? Is there maybe a plugin available somewhere or can it be a preference setting in the server settings whether to add a song as the next song to be played or at the end of the list.

Thanks in advance.

On the web interface, use the fishbone skin http://localhost:9000/fishbone and there is a play next button

On the remote, I think you press and hold the Add (thanks ChrisB) button to play it next

Oh, that works with random play as well - I wondered if there was a way
to do that :).

Hmmm, but telling it to play now using the fishbone skin clears the
playlist and you have to tell the Squeezebox to start random mix again.

Andrew (audiofi) was referring to the "play next" button on the fishbone
skin. This is actually a button distinct from the "play" and "add" buttons
in fishbone. I believe this button is unique to fishbone (or, at least,
there are few skins that have it). It does the same thing as pressing and
holding add on the remote in that it does not clear the playlist but rather
cues the given song up immediately following the current song.

Yes I realise that - it does exactly what is required to fill one of my
wish list items. I was merely commenting that 'play' doesn't unfortunately
- it'd be nice if it played what was requested then continued what it was
doing before.

This is usnig the default skin....Something I've always thought would be a nicety is when you click the move down arrow on the song at the bottom of the playlist if it rolled around and jumped to the top (well, not quite top but next), and likewise if you pressed the up arrow on the song at the top of the playlist (again next song, not the very top) it rolled round to the bottom.
