Last night's build (Windows .exe) seems a bit broken. It won't play any
of my songs.
I'm not sure what sort of debug output would be useful but this seems
key;

2005-02-23 13:27:57.1303 openSong: getting duration 93.599, size ,
endian and offset for file:///C:/Program%20Files/i

2005-02-23 13:27:57.1305 openSong: not bothering opening file with zero
size or duration
2005-02-23 13:27:57.1589 Couldn't open song. Stopping.
2005-02-23 13:27:57.1592 opening next song...

My 5.4 installation works fine from the same songs & iTunes library so
it's unlikely they're the problem.

I also had a very strange error the very first time I started the
server:

Perl interpreter failed at /PerlApp/Slim/Buttons/Search.pm line 202.

On subsequent starts it appeared OK...

I believe this is specifically related to importer-based (iTunes,
Moodlogic, MusicMagic) scanning and not Music Directory scanning. When
importing via iTunes et al, we no longer read tag information from the
file. I believe this is incorrect - the importers don't necessarily have
all the information we need.

Try the attached patch after clearing your Cache.

readTags will totally break the whole point of using importers, btw.

Not true. The importers give us a definitive list of music files, as
well as metadata overrides for tag information in the files. However,
we've always read tag information in the past for files originating from
an importer...largely because importers haven't provided complete tag
information.

Prior to 5.4, we read tag information lazily, resulting in slow
performance during browsing. The checkin described at
http://lists.slimdevices.com/archives/checkins/2004-November/003593.html
switched us to reading tags aggressively.

If we feel comfortable that an importer is providing complete metadata
(iTunes definitely doesn't, btw - e.g, it doesn't store sorting-related
tags), we can remove the readTags parameter to updateOrCreate.
