Is slimserver 6.2 capable of streaming AAC without LAME?

If so, what would be the URL be, Is it something like http://slimserver:9000/stream.aac or http://slimserver:9000/stream.mp3

No (I'm sure you asked this before). Anyway, SlimServer will only stream as mp3 to non-slim clients. Slim clients can be streamed to in any format they support, for SB2/3 that's FLAC, WAV, MP3 & WMA.

Looking at the processes running on my server box while playing AACs, I'd say that it is converting them to FLACs on the fly. At least, when I'm using a squeezebox3 I see both the perl (server) and flac processes being run.

If you set a bandwith limit to a relatively low number then the server will use LAME to transcode to an MP3 instead.
