Hi,

Since I loaded 6.2.2 my 3 Squeezebox 1`s will not play flac files,
and my Squeezebox 2 will not play Wav files??

All work fine with 6.02

Any ideas how to resolve?

Check the Server Settings -> File Types?

Hi,

Actually, the SB2 is now playing all files OK.
It is only the SB1`s which do not play flac files.
Both SB1 and SB2 are using the same server settings (same slimserver)

Strange but true!

I don't think the SB1 can play flac natively, so it will need a conversion
from either FLAC -> WAV or FLAC -> MP3 enabled in the file types. The SB2
*can* play FLAC, so doesn't need a conversion enabled.

Worth a check...

Well, I`ve tried lots of things to get to the root of the problem with 6.2.2, and have given up meantime.
Unfortunately whereas previously if I reverted to the older version of slimserver (6.02) all of my SB`s would play all required files, now my 3 SB1`s will still not play flac files!
The firmware is the current version 40, so I suspect if I could roll back the version to the earlier one, this might restore things .
So, is there a way to source the previous firmware version and roll back the current version.Otherwise I`m up the creek without a paddle!

My SB1-G plays my flac files fine, obviously converted to wav on the
server. Also using 6.2.2 and firmware 40 (and WinXP SP2) so I'd try
uninstalling and reinstalling first. Firmware 40 has been around for a
while now, I'm sure there'd be a lot more people complaining if it
were the cause of your problems.

Thanks Richard,

Actually I`ve installed/ reinstalled until I`m blue in the face, and still I have this problem!
I agree with you that it is a peculiar case, and I confess I can`t understand it.
Kevin at "Support" mentioned it could be a firewall issue, but he hasn`t got back to me yet...so I`m at the mercy of those more skilled than myself(who hasn`t got a background in computing).

Can you list exactly what you have enabled/disabled in the file types list in server settings?

Hi,

I have all files checked except:-

a). All Shorten types,

b). Wav Flac flac......By the way, I have to uncheck this in order to allow my SB2 to play Wav files!

c). Oggvorbis Flac sox/flac....Which I have to uncheck to enable SB2 to play Ogg files!

I have even stripped the file types down to minimum i.e. I use mostly flac , then Wav, Ogg, and mp3...same results!

When using 6.02, I did not have to adjust the server file types at all!

This is weird, it's almost like the server thinks you have an SB2. Can you disable everything except FLAC/WAV/flac and then try a flac file?

Hi,
Well, I did what you requested, and the result with 6.2.2 is still the same....no play of flac files on SB1`s.

I have managed to get 6.02 back working again by deleting fully slimserver, including its folder and registry entry.

So back to square one!

I too am having problems with 6.2.2 with a SB1 & SB2 connected to it. My music collection is almost all ogg and flac with a few mp3. My SB1 will not make a sound for any of them. I have also taken the step of disconnecting SB2 and then restarting slimserver to see if there may be some confusion over which one is the SB1.

SB1 display was acting like it is playing something. At the time the song is over (not that you can hear it to confirm) the next song in the list is displayed.

Is there anything new on this subject in the last month? I have only had a small amount of time to check the list and my search has found nothing.

for problems playing files, go into server settings->debugging.
check d_source, click change
click the link at the end of the text at the top to open a browser
window for the log.
try playing the file. The log will show how the server is trying to
play the file, whether it is native playback (command: -) or some
combination of flac/lame, etc. It will also show any errors when
reading the file contents.

feel free to post sections of that log here if it doesn't seem clear to you.
