What does MAS initialized - 'm' or 'p' mean?

This is with reference to the status message to be sent to the server.

not at this time. there have been signs in the press hinting that wma
drm is a possibility, but nothing concrete.

slimserver transcodes AAC to FLAC, Wav, AIFF, or MP3 depending on the
player and the bandwidth limit settings.
If you run on windows or osx, slimserver comes with the needed codecs.
for Linux, you will need faad (search the wiki for details)

AAC purchased from iTunes Music Store will not play without using an
outside method to process the files and remove DRM

I believe MAS is the decode chip in the squeezebox. m or p presumably
means MP3 or PCM, for the two modes of operation.
