Ok, I've just put a new build of Moose up on:

http://www.rusticrhino.com/drlovegrove

It's had a bit of a UI overhaul and the 'Now Playing' window is the new
focus of operations, displaying track details, the current playlist and
numerous control and option buttons.

I've updated the web instructions a bit. Im not a technical author, so I
don't expect anyone else to understand them.. :-)

See what you think anyhow..

Oh BTW, I've tested it with 6.2, 6.2.1 and 6.5 with no problems.. It should
work with earlier builds, but no guarantees.. I've no doubt moving the CLI
into a plugin will cause some problems with the up-coming nightlies, so
expect some fun out there.

Hi,

Been looking for a simple display showing cover art, thanks. First run
of moose it allowed me to enter options, since then none of the buttons
do anything (no options dialog).

regards

Waldy

Moose is looking sexy Dr Lovegrove!
I love the new UI elements.... all except for the contantly changing background color. Any way to turn that off? Also: The stop button doen't seem to work.

Hi Waldy,

Hadnt seen that one before, but I think I've tracked it down.

If you turn off the 'display now playing information' option in the
options dialog it seems to hose things for next time.. Clicking
'Use HTTP/Web interface' will cause this too.. Oops..

To get it working again, delete the registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Moose/NowPlaying
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Moose/UseTelnet
via regedit.

I'll get this fixed for the next release.

Well spotted,

Ah, yeah, thought the background colour might be contentious..
There is a way of turning it off, albeit rather hidden:

1. Close Moose
2. Open regedit
3. Change: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Moose/Cycle
to be 'False'
4. Restart Moose

I need to sort the options dialog out, so I'll try and put it there
next time.

Hope that helps,

cleared keys & all works now.
Nice job, just what I was looking for

thanks a million,

Looking sweet, couple of things maybe you want to think about (these are really minor)

- Long titles such as "I need some fine wine and you, you need to be nicer" (which is playing fine now) looks very odd as it goes under the buttons which being semi opaque looks strange. Maybe you could limit the text to a certain area to prevent this.
- Would it be possible to lose the "The"s i.e. from "The Cardigans"
- Unpausing has a slight hiccup
- Buttons get messy when you make the window smaller.

I was having problems viewing albums (it showed C:\IPOD on the left and the artists on the right, and no albums!!) but worked out that this was due to the fact I uploaded my IPOD music to my laptop and it does this into a flat directory structure i.e. c:\Ipod\The Cardigans\All files from all albums and not the usual C:\Ipod\The Cardigans\Long gone before daylight\all songs from that album etc

I am guessing what I am seeing is just a function of how you are reading the files and that you need to have at least two folders i.e. Artist and Album for it to work properly.

Thanks for the work on this.

As I said in another thread, I'd love to see:

1) A library window that organizes songs by tags (title, artist, album, etc);

2) The ability to save playlists.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, good point. I should really clip and scroll. Or I could clip and wrap
onto a second line. I'll have a play..

> - Would it be possible to lose the "The"s i.e. from "The Cardigans"

Yes, shouldnt be too tricky. Also I guess stuff like capitalising the first
letters, removing double spaces, adding track numbers, etc..

> - Unpausing has a slight hiccup

Not noticed this - I'll check it out this evening.. Probably more of a
slimserver problem ?

I've noticed that sometimes if you use the play position bar to change
position, the volume jumps up.. Sure that's a Slimserver bug ? Anyone
else get the same ?

> - Buttons get messy when you make the window smaller.

Yes, this needs sorting. I also want to make the album artwork bigger
when you make the window larger.. The playlist kind of takes over a bit
at the moment..

Yes, the current scanning is a bit brain-dead, and requires the
artist/album/songs folder structure to be rigidly enforced.. Going to
look into database rescanning shortly to help alleviate this.. Should
mean I get access to dates and genres in the library window, so it
should be a worthwhile exercise.. :-)

Ok, another week, another Moose build.. Up to 0.12 now..

I've tidied up the UI a bit again (see screenshots on site). Behaves
a bit better when resized, and I've put in drop-shadows and size
grippers..

Also done some work on the playlist features:
* Drag and drop in the playlist list works for single items.
* You can now load and save a playlist (although it's hard-coded
to moose.m3u at the mo)
* Removing single items works as does clearing the whole list.
* Also, the library has a new 'insert' button which inserts the selection
after the currently playing track.

Loads more to do though, but it's getting there I think..

Oh, the options dialog's been tidied up a bit too..

Enjoy,

Just one thing of note to report - The Time bar doesn't seem to be working properly for me, it doesn't seem to reflect accurately the time elapsed for example a 2:30 track can have the bar only half full after playing for 2:15, I can then make it play at 3:35!! it does seem to recover quite quickly after this though.

The viewing tag / Paths was playing up but now seems fine.
