The latest Softsqueeze alerts the user about the MP3 plugin from Sun...
But the Sun web page is rather slim in terms of documentation,
particularly under Mac OS X.

2 questions:

- where should I put said plugin in Mac OS X 10.3?

- Shouldn't it come with Softsqueeze? Or shouldn't more explanations be
given? How are regular users supposed to know where "the JRE directory"
is? Or should we just forget about this plugin thing?

The plugin cannot be included with Softsqueeze because of it's license,
it has to be downloaded by the end-user from the Sun site. It is a shame
that Sun don't provide a more user friendly page for this. I have been
meaning to email them to ask them if that would be possible - just not
got around to it yet.

And yes, you could forget about it, but Softsqueeze will use less cpu if
you install it.

It is in the thread "SoftSqueeze headless".
