just installed SlimServer 6.2 and i'm enjoying it very much. my thanks go out to the folks who work on improving Squeezebox software. i know there will be new problems with the new version, but the tools just keep getting better. the Squeezebox software is solid.

i'm trying to find a server interface that has all controls (including volume) and a display of where you are in the current track. it would be nice to be able to jump to any point in the track, ala winamp etc. the new ExBrowse3 looks like it wants to let you jump around, but the horizontal bar display is non-functional. anyone know of a server interface that provides this function?

I think the moose interface allows this, but I think it is windows only.

Yes the excellent Moose from Dr Lovegrove will do this for you. It is windows only and is still in development (only version 0.1!) but in it's current state it will allow you to select tacks, build a playlist and the all important feature for you , the ability to jump to any place on the current playing song by clicking on a bar.

Saw the web site and it seems like an excellent solution. Just wondering if it works with a Linux Slimserver running on the network?

Yes, the 'now playing' window should work fine no matter what platform
the server's running. Moose uses the CLI (usually port 9090) to talk to
the server, so as long as that's not blocked it should be fine.

The only slight problem area is the 'library window' which
needs to access the actual files to populate its own database
for super-fast searching and track selection. Works ok with
network shortcuts, and people have got it working with linux
servers.

Anyhow, might be worth waiting a bit as I'm hoping to do a
new release later today.. The whole application's been
changed round somewhat and the newly re-designed 'now
playing' window is now the main focus rather than the
selection library. There's a shot of the new window here:

It's basically there - I'm just ironing out a couple of minor
redraw issues and want to test it on a few server builds before
popping it up. I'll post a message when it's done..
