Is Sqeezebox compatible with Airport or is it better to just put a wireless ADSL router on the Ethernet? If so which one is best.
Should I use iTunes for my library? If so which lossless file type is best?

If by Airport you mean an Airport basestation, then yes, as that's just a regular WAP.

Use iTunes if you like, personally I don't but many do. If you do use iTunes you're limited to formats it supports (far fewer than slim server itself supports) - Apple Lossless is probably the best choice.

It's certainly compatible with Airport Extreme.

There seem to be some issues with using WPA2 encryption (I couldn't
get it to work) but

(a) WPA2 on the SB is new, and may well improve over the next few months.

(b) there are reports of Airport Extreme not being good at WPA2.

WPA and WEP are fine for me.

Anyway, if your Airport is not Extreme, I don't think it does WPA at all.

Right (I have an older airport, "snow" I think they call it). It does WEP, though, which works just fine (with the SB3 at least -- I assume the others work as well).
