Hi,

for more then one month I had a Dreambox device connected to the Slimserver to listen to a WMA internet radio station. It worked fine till I upgraded to Slimserver 6.2.

All other devices in the network still work except the Dreambox.

Because the Dreambox can only play MP3 format I converted with Slimserver & Lame the WMA stream to MP3.

What I did:
- I upgraded Slimserver directly to 6.2
- I completly removed Slimserver and reinstalled a clean 6.2
- I copied the Lame.exe and the LAME.dll to the folder:
E:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\
- I changed the file options under Server Settings \ File Types (checked MP3 / Lame)
- Slimserver responds "The LAME encoder appears to be installed correctly on your system."
- changed the quality level of LAME but no other result...

What happends:
As soon as I open on the Dreambox the stream to the Slimserver -> the Slimserver stops responding (hangs or crashes)
Service has to be killed and restarted.

Like I said before It worked so wonderfull till I upgraded...

What's a Dreambox? Google only turned up a satellite STB.

Hi radish,

yes you are right... But this box can also receive the stream of Slimserver as long it's converted to MP3.

Hmmm...there were some changes with WMA handling I believe, because the SB2/3 now support WMA in hardware. You're connecting via stream.mp3 right? Can you play anything else (for example mp3 or WMA files) from your server? I'm just trying to narrow down whether this problem is only with streams.

Hi radish,

when I try to open:

mms://213.254.239.60/radiohamburg$livestream.wma

in Slimserver and on the pc in VLC player

http://IPofSLimserver:9000/stream.mp3

it also does not work with the settings:

Windows Media - MP3 - wmadec/lame

in Slimserver...

After debugging the WMA -> MP3 conversion I receive errors like:

E:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\wmadec.exe: illegal option -- -
E:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\wmadec.exe: illegal option -- a
Illegal value passed for bits per sample parameter
wmadec [-qh] [ -b bits_per_sample ] [ -r sample_rate ] [ -n num_channels ] [ -o outputfile ] [input]

How can I solve this problem?

its a bad option in the convert.conf file

the lines for:
wma mp3 * *

change from:
[wmadec] -r 44100 --abr 16 -n 2 $FILE$ | [lame] -x --resample
44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - -

to:
[wmadec] -r 44100 -b 16 -n 2 $FILE$ | [lame] -x --resample
44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - -

This change is already available in the 6.2.1 nightly builds.
