I looked in the website FAQ and did'nt see any mention of the original
squeezebox being able to access the slim network, anyone got any
insight(s), does it require only slimserver suppport or are there
firmware dependencies?

Thanks

SQN is only available for SB2/SB3.

SqueezeNetwork requires some firmware support and mainly uses direct
streaming for music so that the SqueezeNetwork isn't serving up the
music. It it direct to the SB2/3 from the radio provider. This isn't
possible with the older hardware, and was part of the design
requirement for the newer hardware.
