Hi!

I'm about to buy a SB3, but I haven't decided were yet. In your list of resellers there is only one reseller in Sweden (http://www.slimdevices.com/au_resellers.html#sweden). According to this note (http://m3.idg.se/blog/blog_comment.asp?bi=816&m=10&y=2005&d=&s=) , http://www.jensofsweden.se will be selling the SB3 - is this true?

A little competition in the swedish market wouldn't be bad - the SB3 (wireless) costs $393 + shipping costs from the swedish reseller.

Tack Bernt.

It sounds tempting to order from the US, but what about the support if there's a hardware failure?

($299 + $30 freight)*1,25= well over $400... You have to slip through customs without paying the sales tax (moms) to earn any money. Or buy two with the current deal of course!

Two For $100 Off Coupon 1 $-100.00
New Squeezebox Wireless (Black) 2 $598.00
Shipping: UPS Worldwide Expedited $54.24
Total: $552.24

598-100=$498
$498=3950kr
3950kr*1,25=493kr
3950+493kr+$54=4870

4870/2=2435kr

Don't think you have to pay tax for the shipping?

I ordered my Squeezebox 2 from UK, to avoid problems with customs, VAT etc. This was the best alternative when I ordered, comparing US, UK and the Swedish alternatives.

One problem though, the UK dealer includes "AC Power adaptor (appropriate plug by region)" on their web, just as Slimdevices do on their page. So I assumed that I'd get a Swedish plug. You can't assume anything, the plug was for UK. But my unit was faulty, i didn't power up (using a temporary power solution) so I returned it. I complained about the plug and their interpretation of "appropriate plug by region" was that that their deliver was correct from the start. But I got a plug adaptor for free with the replacement for the faulty unit.

Sadly you pay customs and VAT on the freight costs too, so you will end up with about 2750 SEK per box if you buy two. Still cheaper than Domestic so if you need two or have a friend that needs one, why not?

Hej hanpa!

Which UK dealer did you order from and what was the total amount you paid for your SB2 (including shipping etc)? Do you feel satisfied with the dealer in spite of the plug-problem?

I ordered from http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/

Squeezebox 2 (with wireless ethernet)
Sub-Total: 199.00
EU Airmail: 5.00
UK VAT@17.5%: 30.38
Total: 204.00

Since the dealer solved my problems by replacing the faulty unit including a plug adaptor, I feel completely satisfied with the dealer. But I recommend checking the plug issue before ordering.

...and $60 cheaper than SlimDevices (if you include shipping). The only problem is: can you trust Jens? ;-D

Well, for support, no. But it's a good deal and you can always trust Slimdevices.

Was it just me or didn't the SB3 have a pricetag of $268 at www.jensofsweden.com yesterday (approx. SEK 2116)? Today it says SEK 2595.

???

UPDATE: It was just me. The link I checked showed the price if you were a customer buying from the USA. Sorry. The swedish price (in SEK) is approx. $60 more expensive.

Got the two units yesterday and the total cost for one was 2900:- so Jens has a good price.

First impression.
It surprise me how good internet radio sounds and how fast the Squeezebox respond to the remote. Very nice.

Unfortenly the Headphonejack is broken. There is only sound in the right channel. Tried two different headphones and two different powered speakers.

And my wife liked the look. Overall I'm satisfied. :)

There was a manufacturing fault on some of the early SB2's which
caused this. Seems like a surface mount resistor didn't get fitted
to the board, and needed to be added.

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14136&highlight=headphone
+socket+resistor

Sounds like could be a batch of SB3's with the same fault.

I ordered a SB3 from Domestic Systems and mentioned that Jens Of Sweden had a better price. They gave me a better price (2800 SEK) for the box (including shipping) immediately.

Ps. The installation of the SB3 took less than 10 minutes (I had already installed the SW). Exceptionally user-friendly!

Ps2. The WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) is 10 (out of 10)!
