Hi all,

I'm running Slimserver 6.2 on Mandriva 2006. Everythign works fine, however the shut down script for slimserver doesn't work. It says "FAILED" and the server continues to run.

Anyone else have this experience?

It's not a big deal, but when I want to restart slimserver its a bit annoying..

Are you running the script as the superuser?

Yes. Is there a log somewhere that might have a more useful error message?

Probably not. Please post your shutdown script and the complete output from when you try to run it. Make sure that the paths in the shutdown script are all correct too.

I had the same problem with Mandriva 2006.0. Please see my solution at the bottom of this message thread:

Dan,
I've added my Mandriva script fix to the wiki as you requested.

A simpler fix is to change the stop function in /etc/init.d/slimserver

replace:
killproc $SLIMSERVER_BIN
with
killproc slimserver

The reason seems to be that pidof slimserver.pl does not return a pid,
but pidof slimserver does. Even though the process is shown as having
the name slimserver.
