Media Centre reports that I have 9867 songs in my library, If I search for *.flac and *.m4a in my library folder, windows finds 9867 files. Slimserver says that I have 9823 songs, even after a full delete and rescan.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to track down the missing 44 songs?

Thanks
Craig

I am assuming you are talking about Windows media center.

If there is anyway of getting a list of all songs in SlimServer outputed to a text file you could use Karens Power Tools - directory listing (http://www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.asp) to get a list of all the songs in your folders. Then you could compare the two and see what is missing.

However I don't know how to get the detail out of SS, is there anyway of viewing the database?

Sorry Matty, It's JRiver Media Centre not the windows one.

I see what you are getting at with the listing but that would involve comparing two, 10,000 item lists and I don't like the sound of that :-)

I also tried running SS with D_scan enabled but the txt file isn't long enough to capture any failed imports without overwriting.

i've had the exact same problem since i first bought my sb. itunes reports 6123 songs, while slimserver reports 6012. i have no idea what the problem is, and i've never been able to fix it. when bought the sb back in january i believe the software was 5.4 or something like that, and the problem existed then and does now, all the way up to and including 6.2

I wasn't going to suggest comparing them by hand :) but using excel, access or another audit tool I use.

I have had a look at my SS database file and am going to have a go on mine to see if it is possible. If it is I will let you know how I did it. I am intrigued as I think I may have some missing files as well.

from command session
"c:\program files\slimserver\server\slim.exe --logfile c:\myscan.txt
--d_scan"

you'll get the entire scan in c:\myscan.txt

Thanks KDF
I've got the log and can see
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0328 numitems: 9866
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0332 index: 435
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0335 Beginning scan sort...
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0339 ...sort done.
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0342 Got to end of dir, done!
2005-10-27 18:53:17.0346 addToList_done. returning 9866 items

then listings of the files

Is there something in particular that I should be looking for?

Thanks
Craig

well, you could be comparing with the older listing that gave you 44 more
tracks. Or look in the scan for any "can't read file"-type errors.

If those don't exist, add d_info as a debugging option as well as d_scan and
look for files that don't show any metadata messages from d_info.

START->programs->accessories->command prompt, or START->run if you
prefer.
