I like the new looks. However, WAF is preventing an order today since my SBII is roughly 6 months old.

I was reading the following:
New SlimDSP™ pure software architecture for all audio format decoding and signal processing functionality.
Native WMA support; provides playback capability not only for WMA files, but also many internet radio stations

Is the SlimDSP in the SBII or is it a 3rd generation item only? Also, I REALLY want the WMA support as a good number of NPR staions have jazz programs streamed in this format. Can the SBII be upgraded for native WMA? I'm assuming "native WMA" means it will allow you to listen to a WMA stream via SqueezeNetwork and not need the PC turned on.

Thanks, in advance, for your answers.

I was looking at a local NPR station I like. They stream in Windows media, Quicktime, and Real plyaer. Is the windows media a WMA stream?

Thanks again,

SlimDSP is in the SB2, as is WMA firmware support with SlimServer 6.2.0

I'm working on SqueezeNetwork support for direct WMA streaming as I type.

(yes, I have 4 hands)

I'm really looking forward to this hangover.

Functionally, SB2 and SB3 are *identical*. This has been discussed seemingly
ad nauseum.

If you upgrade to SlimServer 6.2 you will be prompted to upgrade your
firmware and you can listen to WMA streamed directly to your SB2 when using
your own SlimServer instance. The SqueezeNetwork servers are going to be
upgraded "soon" and once they are upgraded then you will be able to listen
to WMA streams over squeezenetwork too, without your own SlimServer copy.

Yaaah! Thank you! 98% of my listeneinf is through SqueezeNetwork.

Even though the SBII seems to be the same animal the new looks are worthy of a compliment. I'm still going to push for an upgrade to the new model under the basis we need the SBII for our upstairs system.

My wife has accused me of this, but that's another topic...
