Download the latest 6.2 nightly (10-24). Run the Install and see the latest from SD for yourself... cool.

Ok, I've seen it but what is it?

What do you see? What's different?

Just a little clue as far as I can see

Actually, there's a far bigger clue if you keep searching. I've just had a read through the manual, complete with a nice big picture. ;-)

Bu**er! That's rather nice isn't it. I currently have an SB1 and an
SB2. Any pointers to how I persuade SWMBO that my perfectly serviceable
SB1 1 needs upgrading?

I haven't put the link in just in case the SVN tool wouldn't like to be flooded.

I have uploaded pictures to this thread on the forum.

Put the SB1 on ebay quick - they are still going for a very reasonable
amount (in the UK, not sure about US prices)

It's the same as SB2 though isn't it... I couldn't see anything in the
manual relating to new features?

I didn't spot anything technically new.
Headphone jack moved to the back.
Plus - is that some sort of screw mount on the back at the bottom in the corners - perhaps to facilitate wall-mounting.

Maybe the new casing has enough space for a speaker or even a disk.

Sadly, the connections will stop it being flush by the looks of it.

Hardware-wise, I'm pretty happy with the SB2. I'm hoping that this is a pretty new box designed to address the 'radio alarm look' criticisms, that it has standard SB2 internals and that the housing will be made available as an upgrade kit to original SB2 owners.

It appear that there is no external antenna?

EDIT: I've just realised that I'm likely to be disappointed as the new design looks like the connectors must be rotated 90 degrees from those on the SB2 PCB. :(

Hmmnn...

One thing I noticed when I updated the firmware in my Squeezebox2 was that the opening splash screen when it's switched on has lost the '2' from its name.

I didn't pay too much attention to it initially but I wonder now whether it might be due to an upcoming squeezebox wishing to use the exact same firmware.

All pure speculation of course...

Yes, that's one of the things that started all the new product specualation. When asked if there was a reason for the splash screen change, Dean replied "Yes". :-)

I think it looks great.

Well done Slim.

It's a shame they couldn't get the board a little narrower and package the whole thing behind the screen. That white stripe at the bottom doesn't look right. If it were a little bit shorter with that gloss black covering the whole front, it would have been perfect. Actually, I think even in the form factor shown, I would delete the white part and just make the whole thing black.

I'll still buy one though. :)

You haven't seen all the color options available, did you? (no, I don't
know any more than you :-))
