I was wondering why it is not possible to scan through ogg files with the FF/Rew buttons. I can do it for FLAC or MP3s. Does this have something to do with the lack of a built-in decoder?

Also, in the file formats section, each format can be decoded to flac/mp3/wav...is there a reason why it is necessary and which is format is default for playback.

A more simple direct question - upon playback, are the flac/mp3 files decoded to wav or directly streamed?

Ogg files are decoded on the server, where FLAC and MP3 are decoded on the Squeezebox2.

So, yes, you cannot scan because there is no built-in decoder.

So, yes, you cannot scan because there is no built-in decoder. There is a feature request for native ogg support on this page (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1061). You can (and should) vote for it there in order to be able to scan through ogg vorbis files.
