won't let me live in Oakville (where I actually live) even though it shows it on the map, so according to it I live in Toronto (but I don't).

Doesn't work well with IE 5.5 BTW.

It didn't like Richmond either, and was difficult even with Vancouver.
(Vancouver, BC came up as Vancouver USA)

not quite as bad as getting a phone call to tell me that my order
cannot be shipped because my postal code was invalid (apparently, the
texas company was under the impression that letters weren't allowed) :)

She may have been the same nice redhead I was chatting up one time on a flight from Houston to New Orleans. There's no shortage of conversation material when one of you thinks the plane is flying east, the other west.

Seems to be a bit arbitrary about where it puts the arrow if you only put in a town. I certainly don't live where it very precisely says I do, nor does Robin Bowes.

not quite as bad as getting a phone call to tell me that my order cannot be shipped because my postal code was invalid
12 years or so ago I had a girlfriend in Washington DC. One time I was calling home to work to check up on things, but my calling card wouldn't go through the automatic procedure. After 3 tries (to eliminate typing mistakes) I called the operator. She told me I was trying to make an overseas call with a calling card, and they didn't allow that. I said I'm trying to call Canada. She said "you see". I said Canada isn't overseas. (in fact, in the phone system, it really isn't even a different country code. Canada and the US share one country code - "1". So if you call from europe you dial international prefix followed by 1 (for the country)). She said it was. At which point I lost my temper and said "I just drove here from Canada yesterday, and I didn't cross any seas!" and hung up and gave my money to another long distance carrier.

My girlfriend overheard this and nearly fell down the stairs she was laughing so hard.

There is a London in Canada too. That may have been part of the confusion. Also, it seems there is an Oakville, USA, which is where it wanted to settle me.

Squeezed out, so to speak.

Don't feel alone. California will be joining you soon in the sea.

I guess it takes an arbitrary centre of the city as the location. Also, I had to put in "York" rather than "Tollerton".

I just had a small mail exchange with a french SB owner. Gaul isn't
completely conquered, yet. When he finally got his ordered SB2, it was a
SB1! Not the kind of promotion a distributor needs :-/

Hey, Switzerland already counts three of us :-)

Mr John,

I think I can help with your SITUATION. I am an american expatriate currently living in Guatemala, with experience in ferrying "black money" through my Swiss and Cayman Islands bank accounts in the NATURAL course of operating my South American fish squeezing BUSINESS. You see, we extract the delicious OVA and send them around the world to wealthy folks, you know, the type who enjoy such FOODS as caviar and goosenuts. These guys like to keep their FINANCIAL dealings under wraps, and they always pay in heroin.

Anyway, lately my health has been deteriorating, and my nurse-wench is becoming quite stressed FROM the constant beatings. As such, I am LOOKING for new opportunities to work with gentlemen SUCH as yourself, and I look forward to your reply as to how we can work TOGETHER to liberate these funds.

Please contact me immediately with your INSTRUCTIONS.

Sean

Exactly. The problem is, they never reply to my email!

Some people can't see an golden opportunity when it's staring them in the face, can they?

Personally I'm more disturbed by the increase in emails from 70's throwback prog-rock outfits asking for people to confirm bank account details, "Phishing" I believe it's called.

Michaelwagner

"Phishing" I believe it's called.
Phishing, fish squeezing, I see a trend here.

By the way, how did I become a "senior" member according to this forum? I never gave it my age ...
