Hi

Is there anyway to search within the returned SHOUTcast list of SlimServer?

Thanks

It's been in my head for quite a while... but no, it doesn't exist (yet?).

What would you like to search for?

I would find it useful. For example I like easy listening streams so I may find them with keywords such as

relax, easy, calm, smooth, I know that Shoutcast returns categories but sometimes I may also find a station over at Shoutcast.com and want to find it in the returned SlimServer list but I may not know what category it comes under etc.

Well... this reflects exactly why I was thinking about adding this feature
:-). The only problem I see is that the selection of streams on the
slimserver is rather limited compared to those available on shoutcast.com.
It would happen to me that I found an interesting stream on shoutcast.com
that was no available from the plugin as it wasn't a "popular" stream, or
not within my preferred bitrate range.

For now there's a feature freeze on the slimserver code. We're debugging
only for 6.2. I'll keep it in mind for whatever comes after that. Thanks!

Michael

Why are the returned streams limited? Is there a technical reason for the limit? I have Slimserver set to drag over 2000 streams but I have no way of knowing (without counting em) that it is getting that many :-) It would also be great if the number of SHOUTcast stations returned when using SqueezeNetwork was increased....

Bandwith. A list of 2000 streams weighs about 700kB uncompressed or 124kB
compressed. Everybody does not have hispeed internet access.

SlimServer 6.x introduced non-blocking web requests - before that (and
SB2's huge buffer) downloading a list of 2000 streams would most probably
have interrupted playback. And I did quite a few optimizations in the
plugin to reduce the time used to parse and process the stream list.

You can go to the player's "all streams" menu: there will be the number of
streams on the top line of the display.
