View Full Version : Live365 Session ID Invalid

Apologies for the cross posting, but I asked this a few days ago in the Beginners Forum but seem to be drawing blanks.

I signed up for a Live365 VIP pass so that I can get ad-free listening as well as some of the VIP only feeds. What I'm finding is that after a few days, those VIP stations that I've saved in playlists and favourites start coming up with the message that my Session ID is invalid, and to log out and back in again. I do this but I still get the same message. I've even tried saving copies of slimserversql.db when the stations were working and then going back to that database, but still the same problem. It's as if the session ID is expiring after certain period.

The only solution that I've found so far is to search for and re-add the stations back to the playlists and favourites, which isn't really practical.

Any tips/solutions would be greatly appreciated as it is spoiling my enjoyment of this superb device.

Are these favorites and playlists you stored in slimserver? You'd better
manage them on live365 site directly. The urls that are stored on
slimserver might contain session IDs which typically time out after a few
days.

But this might be the only way. What I said is a guess, but it's imho very
likely. Could you give an url that you added to the favorites? It might
help explaining.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, they are stored in Slimserver. I'll have a look at managing them on the live365 site directly again, but I don't think that really does what I'm after. I will have a look though.

Here's one of my favourites URL:

live365://www.live365.com/play/paul_woods?sessionid=my_user_name:60y2Kom7FFj0c

Thanks for the assistance.

I'm sure the session id is the problem: session time out and are invalid
after a certain period of time. Try storing the above as

live365://www.live365.com/play/paul_woods

This would hopefully open a new session.

The trouble with storing the URL with only the station name is that you just get the 'standard' stream; i.e. either with ads, or not at all in the case of stations only available to 'preferred members'.

I've also tried storing the URL with the username (with and without the colon at the end) but still get the same.

It seems the only way to get the 'correct' stream is to submit the URL with the username and a valid session ID.

It would appear to me that what is needed is for Slimserver to store the URLs without the session ID and then somehow detect the current valid session ID and then append that to the stored URL, before submitting it. Would this be possibe?

Possible, yes, I think so. But this is beyond my scope...

Possible, yes, I think so. But this is beyond my scope...Do you know anyone that might be able to?

Am I the only one with this problem or do people not have VIP memberships/store Live365 stations as playlists/favourites? It would be nice to know either way.

Log on to Live365 and add the station to your presets. With the addition of
the Live365 presets to the web interface this really is the easiest way to
use Live365 and Squeezebox. BTW I have a VIP membership. You can also move
the menu items around so that the first menu after Now Playing is the
Live365 menu.

I liked the idea of having individual playlists on Slimserver i.e. one for Dance, one for Disco etc. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think this can be done with the Live365 presets?

I'm not sure how to sort the Live365 presets. They appear to be sorted by
listener hours, not my ideal but I keep my preset list fairly short.

I have the same issue so I just quit using Slim Favorites and always go to the Live365 Presets menu...

... which is a real pain because all the stations are just in one big list, compared to being able to sort them in to a number of playlists. I hope something can be done about this with Slimserver, because it means that favourites and playlists are un-useable for me at the moment.
