View Full Version : Replay Gain Question

Does SlimServer use Replay Gain that has been added from J River Media Center? If I browse to Song Info in SS or Track Info on the SB2, it only shows volume adjustment info for songs I have analyzed in MP3Gain and not for those that have been analyzed in Media Center. (These are all MP3 files.)

Sue,

Can you post a file that has the Replay Gain tag as generated by J
River Media Center? It may be a format that we don't know how to
interpret yet.

Better yet, file a bug on http://bugs.slimdevices.com/ and attach it
to the bug.

Thanks,

dean

I wasn't aware Squeezebox2 supports Replay Gain, is there a setting that
has to be changed or enabled

Thanks in advance

EW

This is a feature that will be available with the next release of SlimServer. If you want to try it out now, you'll have to use one of the nightly builds of SlimServer.

I probably should have posted in the beta forumů whoops!

Sue,
Can you post a file that has the Replay Gain tag as generated by J River Media Center? It may be a format that we don't know how to interpret yet.

Here's how Media Center shows the tag:
COMM (Replay Gain): -5.4415700000000005
COMM (Peak Level): 0.39831

Is this enough to go on or do you still need a file?

Also, supposing SS does support this format in the future, what would happen you have volume adjustment info from multiple programs in your tags?

That's not enough. Still need a file.

If there were multiple adjustments and they were all different, just
one would be picked. Which one? I don't know.

That's easy. Pick the right one!

Ok, I'll file a bug and upload some test files.

Hi Dean,

Thank you for adding support for J.River Media Centers's Replay Gain! I was wondering if you would also consider supporting the "Album Artist" field from MC? It is written to a custom comment field just like replay gain. If you think it's a possibility, I'll put in an enhancement request and upload a sample file.

I'd like to take the credit for this excellent work, but it was Dan
Sully.

And as for that request, best to file an enhancement request on
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/

Finally, I'd love to hear more (probably on a separate thread) about
your "I want a Squeezebox boombox" signature.
