Has anyone been able to get KQED? I can play it in iTunes, but it crashes when I try to play it on Slimserver.

I use the either of the following URLs and it seems to work fine on my
Squeezebox.

http://www.kqed.org/w/streamingfiles/kqed_qt_qtl.mov
http://www.kqed.org/w/streamingfiles/kqed_wmp.asx

Squeezebox 1 firmware version: 40
Slim Server version: 6.1.2 - 4157 - Windows 2000 - EN - cp1252

Neither of those works for me. The first URL just gives me the message "Connecting to play:" on the box, and it never kicks in; instead, the server crashes. The second URL gives me "WMA convert error".

I'm running SB2, Slimserver 6.1.1, firmware 15.

Any other help is appreciated.

thanks,
Mike

I can get the ASX to work on an SB1 w/6.1.1, FW V40. But it sounds like 24
kbps....

What OS is SlimServer running on? If it's Linux or Unix these might not work--both have to be transcoded in 6.1.1 with that player firmware, and you probably don't have the executables you need (you may be able to get ffmpeg or mplayer to do the conversion, though, and there's stuff here about that.)

If you download a 6.2 nightly (or soon, a beta) it will upgrade your firmware to version 22, which plays WMA streams natively. I tested the asx file above and it works fine, my SlimServer is on linux-ppc.

I update to 6.2 and firmware 22 on my SB2, and I get the same result now, it sounds really crappy.

My playlist for KQED has the following entries

rtsp://rmbcast.kqed-us1w.speedera.net/alias_sjose_abovn/broadcast/rmbcast.kqed-us1w/rmbcast_kqed-us1w_jan112002_1500_62488.rm
rtsp://rmbcast.kqed-us1e.speedera.net/alias_ashburn1_btn/broadcast/rmbcast.kqed-us1e/rmbcast_kqed-us1e_jan112002_1500_62847.rm
http://www.kqed.org/w/streamingfiles/kqed_qt_qtl.mov
mms://wmbcast.kqed.speedera.net/wmbcast.kqed/wmbcast_kqed_jan112002_1500_45704

The rstp: links are real audio :( and thus require Alien BBC to play

^^^ I'll be damned if I can get any of those to work.

I should point out that I'm using a Mac. I tried following the instructions for installing Alien BBC, but no such luck yet.

Thanks though.

I should add that I can get Alien BBC to work, but not other Real Audio streams.
