View Full Version : 9-22 nightly build still won't read unicode cuesheet

I have arialuni.ttf in Graphics folder. Unicode displayed fine if it's in tag (flac file for single track). But if my CD image is in single wav(or flac) plus cuesheet, things become annoying. SlimServer just can't display correctly any cuesheet with unicode in it. I will be lucky if the album gets scanned, in many cases albums with unicode cuesheet won't even show up in SS.
I tried to save cuesheet in unicode mode with Windows Notepad, no luck at all.
I have hundred of albums, and am trying to find a reliable format for SS. I already posted that single flac plus cue always shows up twice in album list, looks like no fix to that yet. I can take some time to convert my pop albums to single flac tagged. But most of my collections are classical music, and I really don't want single track file for them. Right now, most of them are in wav/cue, but the unicode cuesheet issue really bugs me. Any fix to that?
Thanks.

James - could you email me one of the problem cue sheets?

You are using the 6.2 nightly or the 6.1.2 nightly?

Thanks.

I am using 6.2 nightly. The following cuesheet won't get scanned no matter where it was placed. It can only be reached by browsing music folder, but not album.

James - could you send me the cue sheet as an attachment, rather than inline?
That way the Unicode bits will be preserved. Thanks.

Dan,

There is no unicode in this cuesheet, that's why it puzzles me.

I believe the issue here is that there is no indentation. A cue should look like:

PERFORMER "Pink Floyd"
TITLE "The Dark Side of the Moon"
FILE "darksideofthemoon.mp3" WAVE
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Speak to Me/Breathe"
PERFORMER "Pink Floyd"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "On the Run"
PERFORMER "Pink Floyd"
INDEX 01 03:57:60
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "Time"
PERFORMER "Pink Floyd"
INDEX 01 07:32:57

And not all squished up against the left side.

There are actually two issues here:

1. Some cuesheets won't show up in album list, not necessarily unicode cuesheets, the one I posted earlier is an example;
2. Unicode cuesheets won't display correctly in SS.

How do I send attachment to you?

Thanks for looking into this.

J.

I am a big user of cuesheet(unicode)+flac image. Try this, open your cue sheet using Windows notepad, do a "Save As", at the bottom of the "Save As" dialog box, set "Encoding" option to "UTF-8" and click "Save". Done.

I found out by experience that Unicode cue sheets, if not saved in "UTF-8" format, will simply be ignored by SlimServer during the scan. Give it a try.

Dan,

I sent you the cuesheet that won't get scanned. It does have indentation, only got squashed when I pasted it here.

kbelinski,

The UTF-8 trick works like a charm. Only if I had known that earlier:) I spent quite some time to convert many albums with unicode cue to single track flac so they get displayed properly.
I did try before to save the cue in unicode which didn't work, didn't think of UTF-8. Thank you so much.

Now if Dan can figure out why certain cuesheets won't get scanned. I don't know how many others don't get scanned, too many albums on the hard drive.

i have the same problem as hifijames, but with a twist. If I uninstal ss (6.2.2 or nightly 05/10/06) and instal it again it works great with one flac/cd with external cue sheet. if i rip a cd the same way with ss installed the .flac is then a single track with no metadata (album, artist etc.) while .cue is empty. and again with those same .flac and .cue if i uninstal ss and reinstal it works great. and i did try rescan option in ss under server settings or whatever it is.

so, james i was wondering if the diferance between your cds that work and those that do not is whether they are ripped with ss installed or not?

i hope this can help someone figure out what the problem is.

if someone found a solution in the meantime i would appreciate if you can post it (one flac/cd a must).
