Using 6.1.0 - 3758 - Mac OS X 10.4.2 (8C46).
I tried to install the forecaster, album review, Biography, Weather
and recently played plugin's.
Stopped and restarted slimserver from system preferences.
Recently played plug-in works fine the others don't show up at all.
SlimDevices folder in Library looks like this:
bin (folder)
html (folder)
IR (folder)
Plugins (folder)
Slimserver.pref.

Plugins folder looks like this:
AlbumReview (folder)
Biography (folder)
MHCPAN (folder)
RecentlyPlayed.pm
Scanner.pm
weather (folder)

Tried without the MHCPAN folder first, no good, then tried with it
still no good.
Is this folder for windows only? not sure.

I'm probably doing something stupid so any help would be appreciated.

Uh... I still don't know where you really have to install the plugins on
MacOS X...

Is it really? I thought it was broken some time ago...

Could you try to run the server from a shell using the -d_plugins
parameter. This should tell you what's going on while the server is
initialising the plugins.

Yes, it's Windows only. I don't know whether there are packages for Mac,
or whether you need some development tools. But you could try to run

perl -MCPAN -e "install HTML::FormatText"

from the shell.

Thanks,
On the recently played plug-in I meant to say that it appeared in the
plugins section, I haven't tested it yet, so it may be broken.

I've been trying to restart the server with -d_plugins set but it
seems to reset itself every time I stop the server and restart. $%$%^!

I have dumped the pref files to see if that helps, have to wait on
the rescan now.

If you can find the slimserver.pl script, then you can try running this
from the terminal:
slimserver.pl --d_plugins

This way, you will see messages related to each plugin as it loads. It
also helps for debugging if you try one at a time.

for OSX the slimserver.pl is located in
/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server

As the discussion in that thread indicates, though *some* of the
items in MHCPAN are Windows only, others work fine in Tiger. The
thread tells you where the items go.

And the thread shows that Biography and AlbumReview work fine - don't
know about others - once the relevant items in MHCPAN are put in the
right place.
