View Full Version : Fishbone in 9/11 6.2 nightly

Installed the 6.2 from last night and there are some problems with the Fishbone (Tan) skin. In the top row of the left frame the text is cut off in the middle of the word "Help." Also the search box extends outside the visible frame. When I browse artists or albums, the MM links are cut off and there is always a horizontal scroll bar on the left frame. On the right frame the text cuts off the end of the word "Undock." BTW, even maximizing the browser to 1600x1200 pixels, I still get the text cut off.

When I click for player settings, they load in the top part of the right frame, above the playlist where the player controls usually are, and there is not enough room to read all the information and no scroll bar. Also, now that I'm in player settings, I can't figure out how to get the player controls back.

Thanks. I'm shifting a lot of bits around over the last few days, and
it is still a work in progress. Will get to teh alternate styles
shortly.

Ok, thanks. If I copy the Fishbone folder from my previous installation backup to replace the new one… do you think that will give me a functioning Fishbone, or will it make it worse?

it should work just fine. The player settings link should be fixed in
the next nightly. I've tried out the Tan style, and it seems to render
fine for me. Try refreshing a few times to clear out any caching
issues. Of course, I'm also on the latest from subversion, so some
fixes arent in until tomorrow's build.

Would this also fix the (on my PC) broken default skin?

I only get to see the right pane when viewed with Firefox.

I honestly have no idea :)

You could try it, but I wouldn't expect it, since the default skin
hasn't been going through any real changes lately. There was a problem
with the "now playing" pane, that should have been resolved some time
ago. I've never heard of problems with the left pane.

Call me stupid for not being able to find it, but where do you select the alternative fishbone styles? (I'm using the 6.2 nightly from 2005-09-12)

Thanks

Thanks for that. It must have been the only place I didn't look.

Hmm. It's not working for me.

When I click to change style, the local area changes but when I click
"to refresh and see the new style" I get the "old" Fishbone style.

This is with Firefox 1.06. It works OK with IE6.

A hard refresh is required, but is not always sufficient. There are skin troubles with getting all the new pieces to load reliably.

Do all the standard cache-clear tasks, and then just wait for things to start working again - they will eventually.

I cleared the cache and restarted Firefox. Still no change.

I test with Firefox 1.06, and it hasn't shown me any difficulties (any more :)
The style changing does require the use of cookies, so those must be enabled and
maybe check that its being set properly. It is also not going to work if you
have placed the modified right-justified version of the skin posted on these
forums somewhere.

Got it.

I checked cookies and there were two - one set tonight while I was
testing, and another set in August. I deleted all slimserver cookies and
I'm now using fishbone gray!

Thanks,

great. I've made some other changes in the latest build that should be
backward compatible with these styles. Please let me know if anything
fails. Screenshots will help, as well as browser version info.

Also, if anyone has some sample code for reading the resulting height
of a <div>, please let me know. The alternate skins extend the open
space in some key places, so I'd like to make the bottom frames on both
sides line up properly for every case, and even deal with wrapping text
if possible.

thanks,

I've just updated to svn4274 and I can't get the alternative styles to load at all. Cookies are enabled, and I have no slimserver cookies in the cache. I wiped all the left justified stuff a while ago because it was causing other problems.

The wording (in the help page option) also seems a little confusing: does "Click here to refresh and load the default style" mean load the new style - or am I just reverting back to default each time? If so, how do I refresh the new alternate style?

I'm using firefox btw - I should probably try IE.

OK, IE looks a bit broken:

Don't know how to post a screenshot but the Home/SS/Stats/Help line is too far right justified so that you only get /He on the end. As is the line below where the 'for' entry box has about 10% missing from the RHS.

The Playlist buttons in the LHS window are completely missing. No clickable area, no icons - just two tiny red dots.

Still no alt skins either.

IE 6.0.2900.2180 on XP

when you click on a "change to..." link, you should then see a new line
below saying "click here to refresh and load NEW style"

the link at the bottom (with no screenshot) is for the default.

I had to put in a fix late last night because something in the style
switcher was not merged properly. I suppose it might have been close
to build time, so perhaps that's the problem. it should be svn 4275.

you can probably update before a new build just by downloading the
script file from viewcvs:

http://cvs.slimdevices.com/*checkout*/trunk/server/HTML/Fishbone/html/
styleswitcher.js?rev=4275

I'm on 4274, so I will update and report back. It's not going to rescan my bloody library for me again is it? Trouble is it takes about 6 hours ... Ah well.

4275 is ONLY the styleswitcher.js change. You wont be forced to rescan :)
There is another bug in switching back to default style, currently. This is
only a temporary glitch (should be), and the refresh will load the right style.
I'll correct that tonight.

argh. I think IE IS broken. It doesn't seem to handle divs with padding
properly.

I'm searching for some workarounds, hopefully merge soemthing tonight.
