below I've described the features i'd most want to see in slimserver. I'll be entering them into bugzilla, but first I want to let them out here and possibly mature before I get on to entering them as requests... (or as support to already entered request...)

- google suggest-ish search feature. I'd like to be able to use the remote to start writing and then use the arrow key to browse through all the artist, albums, etc. that match the combination of letters I've enterd

- cover image wildcard, make it possible to have slimserver display any image in a folder as the cover image if theres only one image in there...

- an interface to add music cd/dvd-s so that can turn up in searches and bug me to get around to ripping them and also give slim that complete music-database & gateway to my music feeling...

- record radio streams to the harddrive

- live-radio function ala. live-tv in pvr's. This will let me pause the radio and pick up the stream again when i'm ready for it...

- integrate with last.fm (or simelar) to suggest alternative music based upon the music currently being played

think that's about it.... ;)

I'm not sure how this differs from the search function that's already there. Enter a few characters, press right, scroll through results. The only difference with google suggest is that it displays results as you type, but then it has the advantage of multiple lines of display. If you can suggest how this feature would actually work given a single line display, then by all means do so.

In my experience the most time consuming part of ripping a CD is getting the track names etc from freedb and correcting them. If I'm going to go to that trouble, I may as well wait a couple of minutes while it rips it.

- record radio streams to the harddrive

Given the legal implications of doing that in some places I'd imagine Slim wouldn't want to get involved with that. There are plenty of tools which will do it for you.

- integrate with last.fm (or simelar) to suggest alternative music based upon the music currently being played

There's already a last.fm plugin, give it a go!

are you asking for this in the player or web user interfaces?

seems sensible

you'd have to manually enter the album info in order to drive this. if
going to that trouble, why not just go ahead and rip? not sure i see
the benefit to this. isn't just having piles of CDs around the house
enough of a reminder?

ok. lots of potential wrinkles to thia, but i can see the utility.

more wrinkles, but a natural adjunct to stream recording.

What about a list of recent searches, sometimes I find myself looking
for an artist again (after listening to a different one). Maybe a
list of the last five search terms. It would save a bit of key punching.
