View Full Version : Streaming Basics
I just ordered a SB2, installed SlimServer and the Java SB2 emulator.
What are my different options with SB2 for streaming?
Can I add streams to my playlist?
If I plan on making heavy use of streams, are there enough free ones out there or should I look into some pay as you go options?
Any suggestions on where to look?
Looking forward to getting my SB2 in the mail!

Yes.

Paying streams aren't an option with the SB2. But there are hundreds or
even thousands of free streams:
http://www.shoutcast.com
http://www.radioio.com
http://www.live365.com
They are all available by default. And there are even more options if you
install the AlienBBC plugin.

In the player's and the web interface. They're in the "Radio" section.

Help translate SlimServer by using the
StringEditor Plugin (http://www.herger.net/slim/)
Live365 is (optionally) a pay-for service, you get commercial free listening I believe. RadioIO is normally a pay-for service, except that us luck Slim users get it for free. There's also a last.fm plugin, which is also (optionally) pay-for. I would imagine that other pay for services that use http basic auth (i.e. http://user:pass@www.somegreatstreaming.com) would also work as long as the stream itself wasn't drm mangled.
