Hi
I use "stationplaylist creator" to make automatic playlists.
Is there any "automation tool" included in the slimserver to automatically load thoses playlists at the right time ?
For example I've got:
august30-20.M3U
august30-21.M3U
august30-22.M3U
...
stored in a specific directory.
I would like that the slimserver "auto-load" the playlist august30-20.M3U at 20 hour today, then august30-21.M3U at 21 etc..

Any idea ?
thanks !

This kind of thing isn't built into slimserver, but all the tools are
there to make a Plugin that does this. You can set a timer to check
once every hour for a playlist that matches the time/date and load when
required.

thank you for answer
Well.. I'm not able to do something like that, so I have to ask someone.
Or may be with a lot of time ...

oh, I see. Sorry. Developer forum, so I assumed the question was a plan on how
to write such a thing.

You could download the Advanced Alarm Plugin
(http://www.deane-freeman.com/slimserver) which does allow you to install
multiple copies (just edit the "package" line to match the filename and save as
many copies as you like). You can then set up several alarms throughout the day
to start certain playlists.

I don't know anything about this program you speak of, so I'm not sure if that
would be exactly what you are after. It might get tedious if you have to set
hourly playlist selections every day (fi they change daily). If you do know a
bit of Perl, you might find that the plugin is still a headstart in making
something that does fit your specific needs.

I suppose that this Alarm plugin will load playlists with a fixed name, which is not very useful in my case (they change daily indeed)
I effectively don't know a bit in perl, so I will ask someone who knows.
Sorry for posting here, I thought it was the right place

Thank you again

Thats correct. Was just an outside shot.

It is the right place to get answers. I just made assumptions about
the motivation for your query :)

You could leave a feature request at http://bugs.slimdevices.com if you
like. A feature like this could be added if there is enough interest,
or someone who is also a fan of this software might decide it is worth
making a plugin knowing they are not the only one who might use it.

I think that nobody can be interessed by this feature... it's a very particular use !
Stationplaylist make "intelligent" playlists, with ads, jingles, music categories, schedules, and a lot of features like artist repeat interval etc..

ok for "bugs.slimdevices.com" even if it's not a bug... ;)

450 or so open 'bugs', 300 or so of them are enhancement requests.
There are always users looking for various 'smart' playlist options.
There is bug380 which requests other types of automatic playlists.
Perhaps the authors of StationPlaylist might be interested in looking
at the Command Line Interface features of slimserver and provide
controls from their software for sending playlists out to slimserver
players?

Never know what might get a persons interest.

I serioulsy doubt that stationplaylist will be interested because they have their own streamer/server.
As you say, someone else can be interested, who knows ?
