Hi all,

I love the streaming radio (Alien and Shoutcast) feature and I have all my favorite radio stations up and running apart from a couple where I can't discover the correct URL.

The two am I struggling with are:

www.xfm.co.uk
http://london.smoothfm.com/article.asp?id=84924&section=onair

Can anyone manage to get these two working?

Many thanks in advance,
Bren

Try:
mms://ms2.capitalinteractive.co.uk/xfm_high
and
http://london.smoothfm.com/playlist.wvx
(or http://cryomedia1.cryohost.net/GMG_JazzFM_1022 to avoid the initial advert)

These are the Windows Media versions which should work ok (you might get the RealAudio garbled output problem if you go for the RealAudio versions). If you right click on the Windows Media Player (where the play/pause buttons are you can view the properties).

Where do you add these URLs? Is it done through BBC Alien?

Where do you add these URLs? Is it done through BBC Alien?You can either setup a playlist or enter the URL on the "Help | Internet Radio" page of the slim server web interface.

Today I checked in a "Tune In" link which will be available from the
home's radio menu. Should be a little more intuitive than the help
section link :-)

I tried a couple of internet streams without any success. I put the following URLs into the Radio URL Tune In box within Help/Internet Radio.

I tried RTI (http://www.rti.fm) which is
http://broadcast.global-mix.net/?m=rti&.wvx

I also tried Smooth FM from London
http://london.smoothfm.com/playlist.wvx

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

My SqueezeBox does display the above URL's on its screen, I just get no audio!!!!

Thanks

I have also, just tried Saga 106.6 but that does not work either http://cryomedia2.cryohost.net/saga_1066fm

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have not managed to get any audio streams working using the Tune In function in Help/Internet Radio. Does something need configuring within SlimServe for this to work?

Thanks

Just wondering, does the Tune In function in Help/Internet Radio only work on the new squeezeBox 2? I have the original SqueezeBox 1.

Any ideas? I am keen to get this feature working, if possible.

it should already be working. At least, in the same capacity as it does with
SB2.

The RTI one seems to just have a bunch of images and an SWF animation in it. Not sure how you would find the actual audio stream at that rate.

The other one, Smooth FM, actually points to this stream URL:
http://cryomedia1.cryohost.net/GMG_JazzFM_1022

This just does not appear to work for me!!!! Does the Tune In function deepend on having BBC Alien installed?

I have pasted the following link into the Tune In Now field
http://cryomedia1.cryohost.net/GMG_JazzFM_1022

When you go to status it has changed it to:
mms://62.25.99.152/?MSWMExt=.asf

My Squeeze Box 1 is scrolling the message:
mms://62.25.99.152/?MSWMExt=.asf
but not audio is playing.

I have even tried seting up a playlist as an alternative option using the embedded example in SlimServer:

[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://62.49.59.50:8000
Title1=Monkeyfunk
Length1=-1
Version=2

This does not work either. Surely I must be doing something wrong? I am very keen to get this working. Any help would be most appreciated.

I have got BBC Allien installed and can get Radio 1, Radio 3, Radio 4, Five Live, 6 Music and BBC 7, although for some reason I can not get Radio 2.

Thanks

If it's a WMA or Real stream, you'd better install AlienBBC, yes.

If you're on Windows and have Windows Media Player installed, no, you would not need AlienBBC for WMA. If you're on a different operating system, you would...

I am running on Windows XP and have already installed BBC Alien and as I explained earlier in my posting I am able to get most of the BBC stations with BBC Alien (Radios 1, 3, 4 Five Live, 6 Music, BBC7 etc).

Any other ideas.... please!!!!!!

I cant help you Andrew but have been following your thread as I have tried many different ways to get smoothfm. (London or Northwest) I am wondering if it is just available as a premium station on subscription, this is promoted on their web page via realplayer. I tried subscribing and it played via the PC but I was unable to get it to work via my SB3. I since cancelled my subscription. I have written to their technical department asking for teh URL but got no reply. If anyone has solved this I would like to know.

For Smooth FM London (what used to be JazzFM) - i.e. 102.2 FM in London ... try ...
http://gmga.planetwideradio.com/SmoothLondon
or
mms://gmga.planetwideradio.com/SmoothLondon

I now have it playing on my SB2 via Windows SlimServer 6.5 Beta 2 (I do have AlienBBC installed and I'm not sure if it is going via it).
