Hey,

i've been using my SB2 successfully for a couple of weeks and have progressively added more albums.

as part of the last addition some of the tracks are doubling up when browsing through albums.

eg for Quarteto by Jobim-Morelenbaum my track list is as follows (in my Squeezebox)

1. Água de Beber
1. Água de Beber
2. Meditação
2. Meditação
3. Ela é Carioca
3. Ela é Carioca
4. Só Tinha
4. Só Tinha
5. A Felicidade
6. Eu e o Meu Amor
7. Falando de Amor
8. A Correnteza
9. O Boto
10. Mantiqueira Range
11. Corcovado
12. Desafindo
13. Águas de Março
13. Águas de Março

i have about 4 other albums with the same kind of problem.

there seems to be no reason for this - i have checked the actual folder where the files are and there are no doubles and i've checked itunes which only reports one copy of each song.

when i try and play a doubled track one of the versions will play and the other comes up with the error "cannot play file"

how do i delete the double entries?

(i have tried to clear and rescan my library to no avail...)

thanks.

Can you look at the song info for those songs and see if the file
path there is correct?

checked the song info for the doubled up tracks and the details are exactly the same (and correct) for both entries...

I had this happen once too. I fixed it by stopping slim, nuking the server\Cache folder, and restarting. After the scan was finished, all was joyous.

how does one "nuk[e] the server\Cache folder"??

Right-click->Delete the folder.

I'm presuming your server is running on Windows. I don't know what folders are present in Unix/Linux systems, as I've not installed there. Sorry if this presumption missed the target.

i am running windows XP w/ SP2 but i'm not sure which folder you are talking about - i assume you don't mean my music folder... but i'm not sure what you do mean...

thanks for your help so far.

Note also if those tracks exist in a playlist somewhere and any part of the
path in the playlist has a different capitalisation to what gets returned by
windows you get this effect.

EG

music file is:
C:\MUSIC\MySong.mp3

however there is a playlist with
c:\musIC\mYsONG.mp3

you'll get double up as the scan will identify them as different tracks.
However the playlist will work as windows will ignore the case when
retriving the file.

This should only be an issue if you have playlists created by applications
other than slim.
