A portable speaker system that the squeezebox can plug straight into, but made specifically for the squeezebox.

I'd like to take my squeezebox into the garden and not have to have speakers trailing it.

Too much to wish for?

Basically what you want is a SqueezeBox Boom Box. I've got some ideas
rattling around in my head but nothing firm as of yet...

You are definitely not alone. Many of us have expressed an interest
in such a device. Certainly there are similar devices out there for
satellite radio (XM, Sirius) as well as the iPod.

while it's not a boom box, i currently use a sonic impact t-amp which runs
on 8aa batteries to power my paradigm titan speakers. this is both my indoor
bedroom setup (using a regulated 12v powersupply) and garden party setup
(using batteries). if you haven't heard about this little amp you can read a
review here and then check any of the DIY forums to read the raves. the best
part? it cost $29.95 at target.com (or amazon.com)

review is here: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/sonicimpact/t.html

I know this isn't quite what you're after, but I thought it was interesting anyway. I was walking past Brookstone yesterday (I wouldn't normally take any notice as everything they sell is basically junk) but they had one of these playing on a table outside the store:

http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=497362&world_code=3&category_code=50&subcategory_code=650&search_type=subcategory&prodtemp=t1&cm_re=A_BKST*MB*PB_497362_A

(apologies for long link)

Anyway - it sounded pretty damn good, and looked very "outdoor proof". It's wireless, but not in the same sense as the SB. You hook the little transmitter up to your indoor hifi and whatever you play on it is piped outdoors. Still, nice little unit.
