View Full Version : Removing options from the ShoutcastBrowser?

Peter, Dean and all,

I wanted to ask you what you thought about removing two options from the
ShoutcastBrowser plugin: custom genre files and sorting by "Order of
definition". I simply think these aren't really usefull or actually used:

- I've never found anyone who could provide me with a custom genre file.
This feature therefore has gone untested for months and through _lots_ of
changes. I do not even know if it works. People don't complain - it either
magically does work or nobody is using it.

- "Order of definition": who knows what this is and means? This order is
hardcoded in the plugin itself, the standard user never sees what the
order is. I guess it would simply seem rather messy in most eyes. ...oh! I
just tested it - it actually doesn't work. The order is a real mess and
doesn't follow the definition at all. Nobody ever complained about it.

I know, the code is there and doesn't hurt. But removing it would simplify
(and slightly speed up) some sorting routines and free up a little memory.

Regards

Yes, please. Let's use the standard genres and sort them
alphabetically.

Do you mean removing any sorting option?

Peter Heslin (the original author of the ShoutcastBrowser) gave me a
positive feedback, too. He himself never used either of these options.
