I like the idea of the Browse year view, but, honestly it is kind of a waste. i mean, how many times do do you actually think, "wow, I really want to hear music from 1997"?

I think it would be interesting sort by Decades as headings and the years under them. This way you can play all the decade or play just the year.

1980s (play options here)
1980 (play options here to...)
1981
1982
1983
1984
1985
1986
1987
1988
1989

1990s
1990
1991 ...

What do you think?

I'm not so sure music styles know a lot about when decades started and
ended. I fear some of them survived the beginning of a new decade :-)

I must concur. My wife likes "80s" music, but the musical genre starts pre-1980, and ends post-1989. Hence, we have an "80s" genre that gets quite a lot of random play around here. <sigh>

Precisely why I filed this enhancement request a while back for a "Year-Limiter" plug-in. You enter a start year and end year, and the server only plays songs in the current list that match the range. I think this would make the output easily varied because could change the "mood" by just adjusting the range (ahhh, yes, it would be nice to get rid of the huge directory of custom playlists), but I know different people listen/arrange music in different ways so perhaps no one else sees the value.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to program this so I hold some hope that someone who does also likes the idea.
