Could someone point me in the direction of symlinks help? I'm rather green with Linux and have SS running on a Linkstation. My music collection is growing and I need to throw a USB HD onto the Linkstation. Right now I have /mnt/share specificed for the music folder and from what I understand I need to use a symlink to point SS to the additional music located on the USB drive -- I think the location will be /mnt2/usbdisk1.

Thanks

man ln
is the manpage.
Of course, I find manpages pretty opaque until you
understand about 30 of them.

The rule is you specify
ln -s [real] [fake]

You have to know the names of the directories that you care about.

Lets say you have part of your collection in /mnt/share
and the rest are in /mnt2/usbdisk1

so do
cd /mnt/share
ln -s /mnt2/usbdisk1 more

If it helps, what I tend to do is to create /Music (with at least the read permissions set so that slimserver can read it!), and then create symlinks within /Music to point to the various music directories.

Slimserver is then set with /Music as the music directory.
