View Full Version : A Sticky on Planned Features?

Just thought it might be a good idea to have a sticky somewhere listing the top 20 or so "planned features".... such as ratings, replaygain support, etc. + a rough time estimate on implementation.

Trying to sort through the bugs database isn't really that intutive for many.... a "digest" version in the form of an updated sticky would be handy.

We do have a software roadmap posted here:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SoftwareRoadmap

but it's out of date and I'm working on an update.

2) Graphics Move from a 2x40 character-based unit to a bitmapped display.

Does this mean that the fluorescent tube design on the SB is planned to
migrate to an LCD or another similar display type?

er, as Dean mentioned, this is out of date. SB and SB2 are already
bitmapped displays. Similar style VFD, but instead of character based,
it's 320x32 pixels for the SB2, with multi-level grayscale per pixel.

I am glad to see Internationalization in the list. I am one of the users out there waiting for this feature. Whenever I want to listen to music tagged with non-latin chars, I would need to rely on the web GUI. The SB2 would just display a "?" in place of every non-latin char. I really do look forward to this feature. Don't make me wait too long... pls.

Originally I wanted to wait for this feature to be available before placing an order. Somehow this forum has convinced me that SB2 is so good that I should get one now and wait for the planned feature. I am using one now and it's true. It's good enough to let me put aside my beloved Rega Planet.

again,
that roadmap is very old. Dan just recently posted instructions for
getting Unicode working on the display, in the beta forum

I looked at the thread in the beta forum. I could not access the nightly described. The instructions were not immediately comprehensible for unadventurous people like me. I do not know whether the instructions were meant for Windows or Linux platform.

Since work has started in this area, I hope it could make its way into official release soon.
