Thanks for any information.

I have a separate directory for a few, very simple m3u playlists and I have defined that directory in Slimserver. When I navigate to Playlists on my SB2, it takes a little while for the SB2 to load the playlists (probably less than a minute; I haven't timed it). "Now Playing" also appears in Playlists, but I don't know how it gets there.

Is it normal for Now Playing to automatically show up in Playlists?
Is there any way to set it so it doesn't?
Is it normal for SB2 to take a little while to load even 2 very simple playlists?
Could the presence of Now Playing in Playlists be slowing down the display of Playlists?

Thanks again.

Yes.

> Is there any way to set it so it doesn't?

Not that I knew of.

No. How many songs are in there? What format? What OS? What machine?

I don't use many playlists neither. With less than 10 in the folder
browsing them is instantaneous. Do you always see this delay?

No, it should not. I have four of them (four players).

[/QUOTE]

Slimserver is on an XP Pro SP2 machine, 2GHz, 1GB RAM.

I have 14000 songs in a folder called Music. That folder is organized into subfolders as Artist ... Album. I have a separate folder on the same hard drive called Playlists. I have defined the locations of the two folders in slimserver and have turned off iTunes in Slimserver.

I don't really use playlists much, but thought I would try them for use with the SB2, which I just got last week. I made 2 m3u playlists, each of which has only 10 songs.

The response of my SB2 has been pretty instantaneous with everything except Playlists. If I turn on the SB2 and go to Playlists, it takes abou 30 - 60 seconds to respond. If I then go back to Playlists from something else, the response is pretty instantaneous. It seems like it's that first call to Playlists that takes a while - again, at this point it's just 2 10-song plylist (as well as Now Playing).

Thanks very much.

What format have the playlists (not the songs)?

I'm not sure what that means ... they're m3u. When I open them in a text editor, they are just paths:

G:\Music\Clem Snide\End of Love\08 God Answers Back.mp3
G:\Music\Love Spit Love\Love Spit Love\03 Half A Life.mp3
etc.

Is that what you mean? The were generated by Predixis MusicMagic Mixer and saved as m3u. This was done independently of Slimserver - I have the plug-in for MMM turned off.

Thanks again.

Ok, that's fine.

Drive G: is this an external drive or network share?

An external USB2 drive. (Remember ... eveything except Playlists is instantaneous.)

Thanks again.
