View Full Version : SlimServer Crashing Here Too

I'm also seeing SlimServer crashing on a very regular basis. Virtually any time I come back to my server after a couple of hours I'll find SlimServer no longer running.

Version was r3789, Perl source running on Windows XP Pro with SQLite. Only the Date/Time plugin is enabled. The music directory is on a local disk and I have no playlists, no cue sheets, no linked directories.

The server crashes while idling - no music playing, no open browser window pointed at the server. Nothing is being posted in the event logs.

I've updated the installation to r3802.

Can you run slim.exe from a command prompt?

That way any output will be shown.

Thanks.

trunk or branch?

the trunk, after 6.1.1 release is back to experimental status.

try running it from command line, or editting the command line for the server
link to include the --logfile c:\mylog.txt argument. maybe add --d_plugins
--d_info --d_parse just for interest. there are some plugins that are
crashing, and some itunes issues (tho I think Dan fixed the crashers today).

Not a problem.

Ok, running from the command line with the suggested switches. Will let you know what I see if it happens again.

Thanks. Also if you're running trunk - best if you report on the dev or beta
forums, as it will hit more relevant eyes that way.

I installed 6.1.1 last week on my mac G5 with OSX 10.4.2. There's a noticeable performance improvement over any of the 6.0 releases, but I'm also experiencing crashes when I return to the player after several hours of idling. The good news is that stopping and restarting the server brings it back without having to wait for an entire rescan, but the crashes are happening at least daily. I found one repeated error in the slimserver log that may be related. Here's an example:
