View Full Version : Animated Menus in 6.1+

HI,

This is my first post here, so please be gentle!

Since upgrading my software to 6.1+ for my SB2, the menus are now animated (the entries either scroll up or down). While this looks nice, I prefer the old method where the items just appear - this is much quicker when scrolling through my 2000+ artists.

Is it possible to turn off the menu scrolling anywhere?

Many thanks

Phil

this scrolling is in the firmware. If you old the scroll buttons, it will ramp
up the speed significantly.

If you "hold" the scroll buttons it will speed up.

The animations don't actually slow down very much at all, if you
press twice in succession the second screen immediately is pushed
onto the screen.

Thanks for the replies.

Holding down the buttons does make the list move fast enough, but I also find that the actual animation of the text makes it very hard to read at speed - especially noticable when trying to locate a particular item in a very long list.

Please file an enhancement request on http://bugs.slimdevices.com/
One way to improve this behavior would be while doing a fast scroll
through a long list to not use the scrolling animation, rather just
an update. That way the display remains clearer and we don't need
another option.

Don't take this the wrong way, but try giving it a bit of time for you to get used to the new feature. I didn't like the new behaviour when it first appeared in the monthlies some weeks ago, but very soon I stopped noticing the difference and would now probably moan if it disappeared.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the way that the menus look - very classy.

However, when trying to locate an item quickly, I find them slightly annoying.
