Hi,

Want to keep track of the Ashes test match score on your squeezebox?
Updated Cricket (TMS) plugin available from

http://www.wizfamily.co.uk/slim/tms.html

Anyone any good at graphic animations on sb2?

Excellent, just what I was looking for! I'm afraid I can't help with coding as my Perl is non existent but I will certainly be a user!

I presume you're picking up a fixed URL, so you always get whatever game the BBC are featuring?

Enhancement requests?

- put all the innings scores in, not just the current one (presumeably have to scroll)

- arrange for it always to be showing scores like "Aus 87-5" !!

Thanks

First bug, I'm afraid... !

When a wicket has just fallen, only one "not out" batsman is shown in the current innings scorecard - so the plugin, which I presume is scanning up from the bottom of the page, picks up the one remaining "not out" batsman plus the last man standing from the previous innings. So, for example, I just saw:

S P Jones 20 no D R Martyn 65 no
Aus 255-4 61 ovs

Mind you, if the score keeps going on like that I may stop looking ! :)

Thanks Ceejay for the interest & the bug report!

Your right about the parsing bug, Ill see if I can fix it this w/e, not
sure that the test'll last that long though!
Feature requests, I wrote the bit that parses the scorecard but haven't
included it yet but hope to soon. I guess picking out the innings scores
should be doable if they are uniquely identifiable

My test site allowed me to post a healthy English score when the going is
rough, so I can supply a code change if required!
My main intention for this is the appearance of a duck & booker T at the
appropriate moments, so if anyone can hint how to animate or even write the
code :) I'd be appreciate it.

Are you willing to restrict the plugin to players with a graphical display, or even just SB2?

In this case you can send a bitmap to the display by calling $client->update($parts) with $parts->{bits} = a string containing a
display bitmap in it. The bitmap is a 32x320 bits arranged as 4x320 bytes. You probably want to prerender the images and then do
minimal work if you are rapidly writing to the display.

Have a look at slimtetris in 6.1 to see how graphics are written to the screen or ask more questions.

BTW - Does it pray for rain as well?

A wonderful addition to SlimServer would be code that sends correctly
sized animated GIFs to the Squeezebox screen. Extra credit if it works
for both graphical SB1 and SB2 with appropriate scaling.

Remember the early photoshops of a certain tubular music player that
included cover art on the display?

Yeah... :)

I try to block such things out. But I do remember the prototype posted
by Paul Colley a while ago
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=11061) that dealt with
scrolling album art - quite ingenious. If someone were interested in
completing the job he started and packaging it up as a plugin, I'm sure
he/she would be quite popular.

Nothing to do with the plugin but has anyone noticed anything familiar
about the media centre at Lords ?

Brilliant!

There's a great photoshop opportunity there...!

Even better, can you get slimserver to take a few Aussie wickets, whilst holding onto 'our' own? Maybe, it could hold a couple of catches?
