I've got a DHCP Broadband router and want to remote stream from the
Slimserver on the network. How do I identify it by IP address from outside
my local network?

Check out dyndns;

http://www.dyndns.org/services/dns/dyndns/

You run a client on your machine (Windows or Unix-like [MacOS/Linux
as well] work fine) that updates their DNS servers, which have a low
TTL on the zone. The <you>.dyndns.org hostname then always has your
correct IP. They have other domains than dyndns.org as well.

$ host -t SOA dyndns.org
dyndns.org start of authority ns1.dyndns.org hostmaster.dyndns.org (
2559671770 ;serial (version)
600 ;refresh period
300 ;retry refresh this often
604800 ;expiration period
600 ;minimum TTL
)

20min delay at worst, assuming their updates don't auto-push
to all authoritative servers.. Which would make it only 10
mins if they did.

It is free, but there are other companies that do it as well
if they don't meet your needs. Look at their pay services
as well, they may have something you find useful. I don't
work there, but have used their service for so many years
with absolutely NO problems, that I feel like I should owe
them an advertisement =p.

Hope that helps.
